Toi Wearable Arts
June 2024 - A group of dedicated students who have been working tirelessly since February on their wearable arts creations will be travelling to Nelson to showcase their designs. We are very excited for them and wish them all the best.
Media Stars '24'' Winery Visit
MTC Media Stars were invited to tour NZ Wineries to tour the site and create a documentary on the process of how it goes grapes to wine. Thank you to NZ Wineries for hosting our Media Stars. It was a very fun and informative trip.
Community Project
Trialing a new community action project 'put your hands up not out' all year 8 students will complete one rotation throw a lens of giving back back to the local community in the form of a social action. We look forward to sharing more information on these projects later in the term.
Wood Carving
Students from room 18/19 at Bohally Intermediate in Whaea Pera's class had the opportunity to work alongside master caver Paura Mackie. They learnt about the history of carving and the stories the carvings tell, as well as creating their own carving. They used their knowledge to film and edit a documentary about their new learning. Thank you to Paura for his time.
Upcoming Event
MTC Expo
Our expo evening in term 3 is a wonderful community event which allows students to showcase their creativity and design thinking. Whanau and friends are invited onsite for a student-led discussion about their learning in a variety of areas. Whanau can ask questions and interact with exhibits while gaining knowledge on the learning that takes place at MTC.
Cuddon Technology Challenge
At the end of each year at MTC we celebrate our learning and innovative thinking by hosting a Technology Challenge Day supported by Blenheim engineering firm Cuddon Ltd. A representative team from all client schools are invited to compete in a Technology Challenge day. Engineering tasks are provided throughout the day and students compete for points and prizes.
